DOLLAR RECORD LIVE REVEAL SHOW FOR 'POP GOES THE BAND!'

3rd August 2008

Dollar 23rd July 2008The live reveal show for 'Pop Goes The Band' was recorded last Wednesday (23rd July) at the Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush, London for the TV channel UK Living. David & Thereza looked amazing, both when they arrived and during the reveal show itself, when they performed Mirror Mirror.
The lucky people who attended the recording (including Martine Howard from Guys 'n' Dolls) were privileged to see them perform the song three times for the cameras. It was a joy to see them both looking so well, but more importantly, it was so nice to see them so happy and totally enjoying the whole experience. The show is scheduled to be broadcast sometime between September and November.

Anyone wishing to be present at the recording please contact me for more information. I have a limited number of places, but I need to give names to the production company by Wednesday this week (16th July). So if you're interested please e-mail me ASAP.

Here's a brief summery of the show:

POP GOES THE BAND! is a makeover show – with a twist. Every week the show features a well known pop group from the 80s and 90s. Each band has been on a makeover journey that began with them facing the truth about how they look, their problems with their image and explaining why they still face the pressures of looking good. They were offered help with their transformation and faced an expert panel, which included a plastic surgeon, fitness expert and stylist, who offered their knowledge and expertise as tools to battle the toll of time. The band has had 6 – 8 weeks to tackle their image, fitness and weight and they are now ready to reveal the results. All their hard work will be on show in a dramatic performance of their ultimate hit "Mirror, Mirror" for family, friends and supporters. Would you like to be a part of this? A select group of Dollar fans will be invited to the reveal and given the opportunity to hear the hit one more time. You will have a chance to see how modern day aesthetics and style can change nostalgic looks and image and judge their success. You will be able to hear what the experts have to say about the transformation of the band and you may be asked for your view too - positive or negative!

NO FURTHER WARNER BROTHERS RELEASES

3rd June 2007

Warner Brothers have decided not to release any further Dollar material at this stage. Here's a message from Alan Connor and Dean Murphy which Alan posted on the Message Board.

I'm sorry to report that even with the success of "The Platinum Collection", Warner Brothers have decided to back burner the release of "The Dollar Album" and "The Paris Collection" at this time. However, I think most of us felt this was a long shot, and the tracklisting of "The Platinum Collection" was designed for that eventuality anyway. I am sorry that you'll have an indefinite wait to get the remaining album tracks and alternate Trevor Horn mixes, etc on CD. I'm sure it will come in time.

THE PLATINUM COLLECTION - RELEASED TODAY

24th July 2006

'The Platinum Collection' is finally released today. It's been a long time coming, but we got there in the end. And as this compilation is already selling really well on pre-sales alone, it looks likely that we'll see 'The Paris Collection' and 'The Dollar Album' released onto CD in the not too distant future.

THE PLATINUM COLLECTION - COVER REVEALED

2nd June 2006

Dollar - The Platinum Collection CoverHere it is folks, the album sleeve for the Warner Bros Dollar compilation CD 'The Platinum Collection', to be released on 24th July 2006. Click on the thumbnail to the left to see the full cover in all it's glory!!!!
The catalogue number for this release is 2564-63592-2. The CD is already available to pre-order from Play.com, with other online stores to follow shortly. And don't forget, if this CD sells well we'll see 'The Paris Collection' and 'The Dollar Album' released on CD later on this year.

THE PLATINUM COLLECTION - RELEASE DATE DELAYED

24th May 2006

Hi Everybody!
Just a little update for you all. The album will be slightly delayed by a month, due to a production problem in Germany, where it is being pressed. Unfortunately, due to this, it wont make the next 'batch' of 'Warner Platinum' titles, but will be a 'Stand Alone (!!)' release on July 24th. This is definite and will not change.

The art and design is nearing completion. Two versions have been done, and we will need to choose the one that's best to go with. This will be done over the next week, then it will also go into production. David Van Day has had some involvement with The Warner Brothers Designers, with the design of this release, and Thereza is aware of the album too!

As soon as I know the correct cover, I will place it on the site for you all to see, and then give you the catalogue number to place your orders where you want too!

That's about it for now, but I will let you know further details as and when they come available!

Regards,

Dean Murphy - Album Producer
Alan Connor - Executive Producer

THE PLATINUM COLLECTION - TRACKLIST ANNOUNCED

30th April 2006

Hello Everyone,
Time for another update!
Mastering of the new album took place on Friday, with Dean, Kev Newell and myself all being present to make sure the tracks came out sounding their absolute best. They did!

Deans' 12" remix of 'Give Me Some Kinda Magic' is now finished and sounds breathtaking, highlighting everything that was so special about this great record in 1982, but now it's demonstrated over 6 and a half minutes! He's also done some fine tuning on the alternate version of 'Dangerous Blondes'. This alternate mix gives a whole new dimension to the track. There are some great never-before-heard vocals at the beginning that really set up what the song is about. It's all taken a lot of hours, but the results were worth it. You'll be reaching for that replay button, I tell you!

And now, we've great pleasure in revealing the full tracklist of the new CD.

Dollar: The Platinum Collection - Tracklist

Mirror Mirror (Mon Amour) (Demo Version - Previously Unreleased)

Remember, if this collection fares well, we could see 'The Dollar Album' and 'The Paris Collection' Special Edition CDs by the end of the year, and there's a whole host of goodies we've discovered in the Warner vaults that would make them truly magical collections!

A parting piece of trivia for you too. We were fascinated to see that the original spelling of 'Videotheque', as written on the master tapes, was 'Video Tech'!!

More details soon,

Alan Connor - Executive Producer
Dean Murphy - Album Producer

DOLLAR - THE PLATINUM COLLECTION - UPDATE

8th April 2006

It's been great to see the incredible reaction to the news of the new Warner CD! Thank you. Here's an update for you.

Firstly, the new remix of 'Give Me Some Kinda Magic' has been completed, with just a couple of tweaks to be made. It's taken 3 days work at 20 hours studio time a day, but it's been worth it! The version made is typically early 80s style but with undertones of a current conventional mix. Also, the full version of 'Dangerous Blondes' as it was originally intended as recorded, has been mixed and completed for this new release. You will love it!!

Provisionally, the album contains eighteen tracks.....or does it?! It will include 'Mirror Mirror', 'Give Me Back My Heart', 'Videotheque', 'Hand Held In Black And White', 'Takin' A Chance On You', 'You Take My Breath Away', 'The Girls Are Out To Get Ya' and two versions of 'Give Me Some Kinda Magic', plus a long version of 'Second Time Around' amongst many other classics.

It is due to be released on the Warner Platinum label on either the 19th or 26th of June. We'll let you know when it is available to pre-order.

I can now reveal the producer on this album is Dean Murphy (Bucks Fizz anyone?!) He was also the man responsible for the remixed 'Give Me Some Kinda Magic' and the full version of 'Dangerous Blondes' after being approached by Warner Bros.

Next update will include the full and final tracklisting in about two weeks.

Until next time,

Alan Connor - Executive Producer
Dean Murphy - Album Producer

WARNER BROS TRACKS TO BE RELEASED ON CD

2nd April 2006

Original Warner Bros Master TapesThe long awaited Warner Bros tracks are to be released on a Special Edition compilation CD this June. This album will be made up entirely of Warner Bros material, never before released on CD. It will be part of the Warner Platinum collection, and will contain the majority of both album tracks ('The Paris Collection' and 'The Dollar Album') some being alternate mixes. It will also include a demo version of 'Mirror Mirror', an extended remix of 'Give Me Some Kinda Magic' (currently being mixed from the original master tape) and the 12” version of 'Hand Held In Black And White'.

The album will contain extensive sleeve notes and will be completely remastered from the original master tapes.

This is where your help comes in. This album needs to be successful and sales figures need to be very good. The reason for this is that if the album sells well, both original albums will be released as Special Editions towards the end of the year. These will include all the album tracks, B-sides and a wealth of previously unheard material, plus a new remix of 'Hand Held In Black And White', which is presently being developed. Updates will be posted on the site as to the progress of this release. This album will definitely be released by the end of June for all of you to enjoy. But tell everybody because it needs to be successful if you want to see the original album Special Editions released!!!!!

Alan Connor – Executive Producer
