Interview with Thereza Bazar & David Van Day on Thursday 11th November 2004 at Wembley Arena.

A BIG THANK YOU to Thereza & David for finding the time to do this interview on what was a very busy day for them both.

Playing at Wembley Arena is getting to be a regular gig for Dollar, how do you both feel about being part of this concert?

Thereza: "Awesome."
David: "Fantastic, over the years we've kept Dollar special, we haven't done any of the hacking around of holiday camps or anything like that. We're really pleased and proud of ourselves."
Thereza: "Yes."

What does the future hold for Dollar, do you think you'll perform together again if the right situation came along?

David: "We're all ears, you know we've never written it off its just gotta be the right vehicle. It's very difficult for acts like us, but if the right venue comes along and it suits us we're all ears. I never thought we'd be doing this so soon after Hear & Now but here we are."
Thereza: "It Depends."

Thanks to 'Reborn In The USA' we got two new recordings from Dollar, what are the chances of anymore in the future?

Thereza: "Don't know...watch this space." (laughs)
David: "Who knows."
Thereza: "It's not a no...you never know."

How do you both now feel about taking part in 'Reborn In The USA', are you glad you did it?

Thereza: "Everything happens for a reason, if we hadn't have done that we wouldn't be half as comfortable doing tonight. So you see after that it's easy to fall back into doing this. It was an experience and I wouldn't want to repeat it." (laughs)
David: "This is the most special thing we've done in a reunion for many years. So to be honest Thereza's right, all those things were just setting us up for this really."
Thereza: "Yes they were."

I've already asked David this question so Thereza, how do you feel that the tracks you recorded with WEA records have not yet been released on CD?

Thereza: "It's frustrating, and I'm sure they'll come a time, maybe this is the catalyse. Maybe they'll think ok it's high time, maybe Trevor might do something I don't know. They need a nudge from some direction so we'll wait and see, but we'd be thrilled if there was a compilation."

Well two tracks are coming out on the Trevor Horn compilation CD.

Thereza: "Yes, maybe that will start something."

Thereza, have you ever thought about releasing 'The Big Kiss' album on CD?

Thereza: "Er no."
David: "Can you keep the questions about Dollar please." (both start laughing)

Is the track 'Touch To Touch' a solo Thereza track or a Dollar track?

Thereza: "No it was written without David, it wasn't a Dollar track."

So it's a Thereza solo track?

Thereza: "Yes."

The reason I ask is David isn't credited as one of the songwriter, plus it was featured on a German compilation CD as Dollar.

Thereza: "Is it! Maybe I was being generous." (both start laughing)

Thereza, how long have you been a vegetarian, and why did you become one?

Thereza: "I've been a vegetarian for about 30 years. It was when we were on the road working very hard, I just couldn't cope with eating anything, too tired. So I thought I'd go back to baby food, nothing too hard on the stomach. I've been that way ever since, fitter than ever and fighting fit."

Thereza, how did you get involved with the track 'Don't Ask Ronnie'?

Thereza: "Ahh I don't know, I can't even remember how that goes. When I remember I'll tell you ok, I'll e-mail you on the website."

Thereza, what's your favourite Dollar track?

Thereza: "Favourite Dollar track...owe, probably 'Give Me Back My Heart', it's a masterpiece. Probably one of the best pop records ever made, and I think Trevor probably would agree with that."

Is that why you decided to record it solo?

Thereza: "Yes, it's a fantastic record."

Is it true that Dollar were offered 'Making Your Mind Up' before Bucks Fizz?

David: "Yes it's true."
Thereza: "Yes, we didn't want to do Eurovision."
David: "We didn't need to, and we didn't like the song either. I thought 'Have You Ever Been In Love?' was much better if we were going to do one. So no, it wasn't our style."

Are there any unreleased tracks in the volts at WEA, London records etc that could maybe be used as extra tracks on future compilation CD's?

Thereza: "Probably."

Can you remember any names?

David: "No, not at this time."
