Thereza recorded her first solo track 'Don't Ask Ronnie' in 1981, and in 1985 she released her solo album 'The Big Kiss'. Apart from the UK Thereza's solo recordings have also been released in other parts of Europe, Japan and America. Thereza's last solo single (to date) was the theme tune to the movie 'Gotcha!' in 1985. Information on this page relates to UK releases unless otherwise stated.

1981: FIRST SOLO RECORDING

Paul Bevoir - Sixty/Forty In Your Favour

In 1981 Thereza recorded a song written by Paul Bevoir called Don't Ask Ronnie. The song was never released until 1994 when it was included on a promo only CD by Paul Bevoir called 'Sixty/Forty In Your Favour' limited to just 500 copies.
Paul Bevoir was once a member of Mari Wilson's Wilsations until he left in 1982 to form his own band The Jetset.
Don't Ask Ronnie was later included as a bonus track on the 2002 Dollar compilation CD 'Shooting Stars The Dollar Collection'.

Thereza's solo album 'The Big Kiss' was released in the UK and other parts of Europe in 1985 on MCA records, and was produced by legendary producer Arif Mardin. It was also released in Argentina under the title 'El Gran Beso'. Eight out of the ten tracks were co-written by Thereza herself with various other songwriters. The album also includes a solo version of 'Give Me Back My Heart'. Both the album and the two singles released from it didn't chart very well, which is a real shame because this is a superb album containing some brilliant pop songs. The lack of promotion and record company trouble prior to the album's release must surely have played a major part in the lack of success. Thereza did appear on a few TV shows in the UK and around Europe including a performance of 'Traitor Of The Heart' on The Little and Large Show, but the track was never released as a single.

'The Big Kiss' was released on two 12" singles in the UK. The first one features a Stock, Aitken and Waterman extended version while the second one has an Arif Mardin remix. The single was also released in Germany and Spain featuring a different picture cover to the UK release. In 1999 'The Big Kiss' was featured on the German compilation CD 'New Wave - Punk'. The follow-up single 'Too Much In Love' was also released on 12" single featuring an extended Smooch Mix.
Thereza's last solo single (to date) 'Gotcha!' released in 1985 was produced by ex-Blondie producer Mike Chapman. The track was the theme tune to the film of the same name and was also included on the soundtrack album. As far as I know the single was only ever released in America and Japan, the soundtrack album was also released in Japan. In 2003 the movie was finally released on DVD in America.

Thereza produced two singles and an album for the group Paparazzi in 1983/84. I have never seen a copy of the album, 'Cold In A Warm Climate' so I don't have a lot of information on it.
