At long last Warner Bros finally relented and released some of Dollar's back catalogue onto CD. This compilation features all the singles from Dollar's Warner Bros association, as well as album tracks from both 'The Paris Collection' and 'The Dollar Album'. All of the tracks have been fully remastered and the sound is truly amazing. Also included is the Japanese only single 'Two Hearts', 'Living A Life Of Dreams' ('Videotheque b-side) and the 12" version of 'Hand Held In Black And White'. Warners were considering releasing a Dollar compilation and just happened to speak to Andy Hill about it, who recommended Dean Murphy (Bucks Fizz producer) for the job. Dean accepted the job and asked Dollar Oracle Alan Connor (who also wrote the sleeve notes) to assist him. The final result is this compilation featuring some of the best tracks Dollar ever recorded together. Dean Murphy has also created a 2006 remix of 'Give Me Some Kinda Magic' for this release. He has ingeniously given it a contemporary feel, yet cleverly bringing it up to date at the same time. The previously unreleased long versions to 'Second Time Around' and 'Dangerous Blondes' make you think why they weren't released like this back in 1982. The CD finishes with a previously unreleased demo version of 'Mirror Mirror' making this an essential 'must have' for every Dollar fan. Warner Bros have stated that if this compilation sells well they will consider releasing both 'The Paris Collection' and 'The Dollar Album' in their entirety. And as pre-sales for this release are already nearing 5000 copies, it looks like Dollar fans have got a lot more to look forward to. |

Even though there are still no WEA
recordings included on this CD it's the best Dollar compilation to date.
It's clear to see that a lot more thought and effort has been put into it.
All 20 tracks included have been remastered and the quality is excellent.
The bonus tracks include two b-sides released on CD for the first time ('Talking
'bout Love' and 'Love One Another'). It also contains Thereza's first solo
recording 'Don't Ask Ronnie' which is released commercially for the first
time. |

This Dollar compilation released on the Crimson label was the first since 1997's 'Love Tonight' CD to feature original Dollar recordings, although it's the usual tracks served up once again. It's well presented however with a threefold booklet which contains a detailed Dollar biography and an additional picture. It's strange that 'We Walked In Love' is stated on the front cover giving the impression that it's included on the disc, but unfortunately it isn't. The CD features the same version of 'It's Nature's Way' that was included on the 'Shooting Star' CD released in 1995. |

Dollar's third and final studio album (to date) contains no less than five UK Top 40 hit singles. A great part of the albums success was down to Trevor Horn, who's writing and producing skills created such pop classics as 'Mirror Mirror', 'Give Me Back My Heart', 'Videotheque' and 'Hand Held In Black And White'. The rest of the album was written and produced by Dollar themselves including the albums last hit single 'Give Me Some Kinda Magic'. This album contains some great vocals by both Thereza and David. In particular Thereza's stunning vocals at the end of 'Give Me Back My Heart', which was apparently recorded in just one take. |

All ten tracks on Dollar's second album 'The Paris Collection' were written by Thereza and David themselves, they also produced most of the album together with Greg Walsh. Three singles were released from this album in the UK although none of them, nor the album made it into the Top 40. In my opinion this album contains some of the best tracks they ever recorded together including 'Takin' A Chance On You', 'You Take My Breath Away', 'Ebony' and 'Radio'. The album came with a free poster and at the time of it's release the record company ran a competition to win a day in Paris with Dollar. |
